Farmhouse Style Inspiration, DIY Tutorials and Knitting Patterns for you + your Home.
Hi, I’m Laurie!
Welcome! It’s so lovely to have you here and I’m flattered that you’d like to know more about me!
Not A Farmhouse
My blog name came from my love for Farmhouse Style (of any sort) but not actually living in a farmhouse. I want to share with others how you can create Farmhouse Style in your home too.
The top three things I will be sharing with you here on the blog are;
- Farmhouse Style Inspiration
- DIY Tutorials For Your Home
- Knitting Patterns For You And Your Home
I hope that I can inspire you to live in a home you love, that you create yourself.
Creator + Maker
By nature I am a very creative person. I love to make and do, rather than buy! I am passionate about creating to help deal with my mental health struggles and I’d love to help others do the same.
Creating in any way can be very grounding. It helps focus on something positive, rather than the negative issues that can make your mental health worse.
Calm Home Environment
Creating a calm home environment helps me to not feel overwhelmed. Too much colour or conflicting styles bother me. A home is a place to relax, to feel content and enjoy rest.
I constantly work to create that feeling and therefore I’d like to share my thoughts, ideas and inspiration with others too.
I have been inspired by so many others through blogs for as long as I can remember, that I felt it a good thing to give back and inspire others. I share DIY tutorials for the home here and hope I can inspire you!
Knitting (and Crochet)
Knitting has been one of THE best things I have ever learned to do, so I am passionate about passing this on to others.
I teach others, design and create patterns and generally just love what knitting can do for anyone of any age, race or gender. I have taught children. I’ve taught my own children.
I love to hear of another person who knits. I especially love it if I meet another knitter (or crocheter) in public, whilst they are in the middle of making. It happens, not often, but it does happen!
Have you heard of Worldwide Knit in Public Day? It is held on the second Saturday in June each year! If not, check it out here!
My greatest accomplishment and blessing in this life is my family. I am married and we have three beautiful children together. Two boys and a girl who are currently 10, 7 and 1.
We are from the UK and moved to Australia in 2010 with our first born, when he was just 17 months old. Our younger two children were born here in Australia.
We live on the South East Coast of Queensland and have made this state our home! Traditional Queensland homes are just beautiful. I’m always on the look out for farmhouses and little white cottages with front verandahs for inspiration when we’re on our travels!
Thank you for reading and visiting the blog! I hope to see you back here often. If you haven’t already, sign up to my newsletter below for free farmhouse printables and patterns, weekly inspiration and updates!
